It’s no secret, everyone knows that fall clothes are the best clothes. Put those shorts away, hide that mangy tee shirt and prepare for dropping temperatures, chilly bonfires, and pumpkin-spiced everything. Check out 5 of our favorite pieces for guys this coming season.[line]
Over the past 5 years or so, Under Armour has been making a serious push into the outdoor world. The Dobson Softshell jacket is the perfect layer for the fall season. Soft shell provides a protective layer against the wind and light rain while remaining super breathable and lightly insulated. With a full sized hood and zippered hand pockets this is the perfect jacket for day to day use or to lend to that cute girl at the bonfire who’s starting to get a little chilly.[line]
I’ve written what feels like 100 articles on the importance of vests. They’re one of the most underrated layers out there and everyone needs a good one. The Cerium Vest is one of my favorites because it’s ultra light weight, super packable and has an impressive temperature range. If it’s getting late in early September and the temperatures are just starting to get cold you can toss it on to increase your core warmth or, save it for late winter when everything is frozen for warmer hands and better circulation.[line]
Year over year this is one of my favorite pieces. The Gordon Lyons sweater is incredibly comfortable, highly functional and it has a clean, maintained look that gives it a bit of versatility. The North Face uses a sweater knit fleece that looks and feels like a tradition fleece but maintains all of the traditional characteristics that fleece provides. The ¼ zip layers perfectly over your favorite flannel to allow a bit of pop-color or can be fully closed to add a little extra warmth around the neck. It’s a must have item that can be worn on the ski hill or out to dinner with your favorite pair of khakis.[line]
With fall comes flannel and when it comes to flannel shirts, no one does it better than Patagonia. Known for their timeless fashion and bomb proof durability, Patagonia flannels provide everything you need out of your favorite fall layer. They do a wonderful job melding pop-colors with earth tones and use a heavy, dense, 100% cotton weave that’s going to last longer than you will. Toss this on around the house when you’re fighting the urge to crank the heater or layer it for a long day working outside for reliable construction and total comfort.[line]
Just like Patagonia, Mountain Khaki has made a name for themselves by producing bomb proof clothing. The Original Mountain Pants were inspired by working ranch hands looking for pants that would perform in the roughest and toughest conditions. They have large, easy access pockets, strong seams, and a highly durable cotton canvas material that can take whatever you throw at it. No fancy cuts or tailored styles to restrict your movement, the Mountain Pants were made to be used, abused, washed and worn all season long.
